Before you begin, preheat your oven to 180°C.
Use a mortar to grind the mace or cut it into small pieces with scissors.
Beat the butter with the sugar, then add the egg, milk, lemon juice and zest. Next, add the flour, baking powder, salt, and ground or crushed mace. Mix everything well and let the dough rest in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
On a lightly floured surface, divide the dough in half and flatten each half with a rolling pin until it reaches a thickness of 2-3 cm. Then, cut the dough using a glass or other similar object.
Place the pieces of dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for about 10 minutes.
Let cool on a wire rack before enjoying warm or cold.
