Take an apple, peel it, remove the core and cut it into medium slices.
Melt butter in a skillet over low heat and cook the apple slices until golden brown.
Meanwhile, prepare the herring fillets by draining and cutting them into pieces, along with the red onion into strips and the finely chopped dill.
Once the apple slices are cooked, place half of them on a serving platter, cover each with a piece of herring, add pepper and another apple slice on top.
Garnish with red onion slices and chopped dill, then serve immediately.
