Preheat the oven to 190°C. Grease a baking dish.
Parboil potato cubes for 10 minutes; steam cauliflower florets for 5 minutes and drain well.
Mix cream (or milk) with grated cheese, salt, pepper and a pinch of nutmeg.
Layer vegetables in the dish, pour the mixture over and top with more cheese.
Bake 35 minutes until bubbling and golden.
